I wasn’t particularly complimentary about After You, the sequel to Me Before You, mainly because it was a disappointment compared to how much I bloody loved Me Before You.
It deals with a dense topic with ease and a touch of humour. It explores the nuances of the desire for an ordinary life and an exceptional life, through the relationship of Louisa Clark, who is quite content just getting by, and the man she becomes the carer for, Will Traynor, who had big hopes that were cut short by a motorcycle accident.
