By Megan Thomas

It’s the companion for the TV series, An Idiot Abroad, where Stephen Merchant and Ricky Gervais send their friend Karl Pilkington on a holiday to see the world wonders. I haven’t watched the series, but the book was quite hilarious.
I’d recommend reading it in one sitting (it’s very easy-reading), because once you lose momentum it can be difficult to get back into it. Though often Karl’s reactions are ridiculous and sometimes just brat-like, there are definitely lessons to be learnt and non-ridiculous truths to be extrapolated from it.
