By Megan Thomas

I can’t express adequately how much I would recommend this book. I don’t know why, but the number of people raving about it initially put me off – probably a mild bout of literary snobbery. As if everyone loving it meant that it was going to disappoint me.
While I‘m not entirely sure how I feel about the ending, the book had me trying to decide whether I’d be crying with laughter or sadness throughout. It grapples with loneliness, repression, depression and kindness in equal doses, exposing everything and nothing simultaneously. Eleanor will stick with you.
