By Megan Thomas

Set in London, 1939, this historical thriller ticks all the boxes for a fast, enjoyable, mysterious romp.
At first, I found it quite cliché, but as I got into it, I realised that some kind of genre-defying revolution is not the point of this sort of novel and that what might be called tropes actually add to its easy-going tone. It gives more room for the characters to develop, too.
